Serere MP Patrick Okabe succumbs to road accident

Patrick Okabe, Member of Parliament for Serere County in Serere district dies in road accident

According to information obtained by the media, Bishop Okabe was involved in a head-on collision with a Kenya truck registration number KCX 071K at Naboa along Mbale-Tirinyi road on Monday morning while driving with his wife to Kampala in his vehicle registration number UBK 995F.

“Parliament has learnt with shock about the death of Serere County Member of Parliament, Hon. Patrick Okabe and his wife, which occurred earlier this morning at Naboa on Mbale-Tirinyi road. #RIP #Uganda” reads the Parliament tweet

Okabe died on the spot while his wife was rushed to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital in critical condition. Joel Namisi, a Junior Pastor in Faith Ministries, which was started by Okabe confirmed the death of his boss, saying his body is lying at Mbale Hospital mortuary.

He told our reporter that the truck lost control and crashed into Bishop Okabe’s vehicle. “We lost him in times we needed him,” Namisi said in a tweet. The late Bishop Okabe is also the founder of Faith FM in Mbale city, Voice of Serere, Rhema High school and Okabe foundation Saving Saccos in Serere
