Parents in Arapai Sub County in Soroti district have been encouraged to embrace the education of the disabled learners in their families.
Robert Etenu, the councilor for people with disabilities in Arapai Sub County says that a majority of parents have always ignored the education of children with disabilities, something he says is a total violation of human rights.
Etenu adds that as a representative for disabled people in the entire sub county, his office has always registered cases of parents prioritizing the education of able bodied learners rather than disabled children thus resulting in conflicts in the family.
He therefore advised parents to desist form segregating children in the family but rather promote unity among the children.
