Soroti high court to Decide on Osiyya and Koluo’s Case today

The Electorates of Toroma County in Katakwi district in the eastern part of Uganda have asked the Soroti high court to fairly deliver a judgment following the case filed by Solomon Osiyya- Alemu against the incumbent Hon. Joseph Andrew Koluo and Uganda electoral commission.

The judgment is set for today Friday January 2023 in the afternoon hours.

In his petition Osiyya claimed that the elections were not conducted in accordance with principles and provisions laid out in the electoral laws and this affected the outcome in a substantial manner. 

to some of the residents yesterday, they believe the judgment should rightfully given while others said, it should favor Solomon osiiya so that, the by election will come.

Mr. Joseph isiaramo, the area councilor for Abul parish in Amusia sub-county, told Joshua radio that, their constituency is not well represented hence calling for an election.

Other residents whom this radio interacted with in the areas of omodoi, Toroma and amusia sub counties said, the current findings see the former LC5 for Katakwi taking, Hon. Walter Elakas-Okiring.

Elakas in his speach said, his being in the village for over 2 years now, he has known the winner already.

Solomon Osiyya the NRM flag bearer, said if the judgment is fairly issued, He is steady of the winning, he asked his supporters to remain confident saying, the NRM is a Pro people party which can’t let locals down.

Meanwhile speaking to Hon. Joseph Koluo the toroma county Mp advised his voters to be calm predicting the judgement will be on his side.

Koluo was declared a winner with 9,179 votes against Osiyya’s 8,013 votes

The recent elections 2021 general elections in katakwi saw eleven candidates vying for the Toroma county which include, Hon. Hon. Solomon Osiyya (NRM), Hon. Koluo Joseph Andrew independent, Hon. Elakas Walter independent, Martin Odaka FDC, Stanly Opus Democratic party and others.
