Sub County Speaker challenges government to prioritise Persons with disabilities in its programing

The sub-county speaker Ocokcan in Soroti district has challenged the government to prioritize the persons with disabilities in its programing through introducing programs that touch and transform their livelihoods.

Stephen Opila who doubles as the councilor representing persons with disabilities in Ocokcan sub-county says majority persons with disabilities cannot manage to contribute money for registering their groups at sub-county and district level in order to benefit from government programs due to financial constraint.

It’s upon that background that Opila is calling on the government to come up with different programs that are targeting persons with disabilities.

Meanwhile Julius Opoi the Executive director Oj Disability Care Foundation says if the government does not put much effort in transforming the livelihoods of persons with disabilities they will remain wallowing in poverty.
