Katakwi Hospital Gets Modern Electric equipment worth Shs 285 Million

Katakwi General Hospital has received an assortment of modern electrical beds equipment worth shillings 285,062,000 m to improve management of patients who always share beds in the hospital.


The equipment procured by the private secretary in charge of political mobilization in the office of the president, Dan Mulalu with lobby support from the Team for you America was purchased for betterment of Katakwi who suffered during insurgency prompting him to write a proposal to aid the vulnerable health sector.

Among the donations that were delivered over the weekend to Katakwi general Hospital all the way from the United Kingdom – America include 54 modern electricity beds, 57 modern coated mattresses and 97 bed rids.

While handing over the equipment on Saturday Dan Mulalu, said that the machine will help eliminate patients from sharing beds because he was aware of the burden Katakwi citizens are going through health wise. 

Dr Odeng Simon Peter, the medical superintendent of Katakwi general hospital who received the equipment says this is a unique donation that operates with power and has provision where patients can press to call a nurse for any emergency unlike other ordinary beds the hospital has been using.


Odeng says they receive 600 patients at outpatients department, noting that patients are overwhelmed and bed capacity for hospital is only 87% which requires leaders support but with current donation it will help patients from sharing Beds.

“He says the Health committee will soon be seating to map up the lower grade II and III facilities to capacitate with some of this beds “

Some of the patients who witnessed the delivery of the donation such as Florence Itwala, a resident of Aleles village Akoboi sub county, Ben Kiwanuka Angiro LC1 kaimoru in Getom sub county , and  Joseph Olaboro a resident of Oale in Katakwi sub county described Mulalu as true leader who is focused in-service delivery to develop Katakwi.
