The construction of the long awaited Getom Seed school in Getom sub county has now commenced after receiving shillings 939,950, 960 million for phase one construction as per government policy to have each sub county a seed secondary school.
Andrew Echatu, the Katakwi district Engineer, also a project manager handling technical supervision and monitoring confirmed that the construction funded under World Bank will be in phased manner and its going to be constructed by WILJON Estate & construction LTD in two phases.
The scope of Getom seed school under the first phase construction will consist of construction of 2 classroom blocks of two class rooms, administration block, one staff block two in one, two blocks of 5 stances VP latrine for both girls and boys, two stance VP latrine for administration.
The works of Getom Seed School first sagged because the proposed land was denied by Church of Uganda;
However, while ground breaking and handing over the site for the construction at Otiakol Village where the sub county headquarters started operating today, The Project management team headed by CAO Patrick Olila, Deputy RDC Vincent Savior Okwii and LCV Geofrey Omolo are emphasizing on quality works and warn against shady works.
Bosco Okiror District Inspector of Schools Katakwi who represented DEO who will be the contract manager for the project appealed to parents to be supportive in order to get the best school to help learner’s get better education according to government policy.
Meanwhile local leaders together with residents showed excitement applauding the government for such social service, Aciria Joseph the LC1 , Otiakol Village ,Ben Kiwanuka ,Richard Obore and other residents say the difficulty of accessing education will be eased.
William Chemonges, the director of WILJON Estate & Construction LTD constructed for this project has promised to deliver quality works.
