Bukedea women seek assylum at the neighbourhood following shortage of grass to thatch their leaking houses

A section of women at Kokwech village, Kokwech parish in Malera Sub County in Bukedea district are currently seeking asylum at their neighbours’ homes as they run away from their leaking house following shortage of grass to thatch their own.

It believed that prices of a batch of grass in Kokwech shot up between 1500 shillings to 2000 shillings making most of them unable to restore their dilapidated houses during the season. Sam Oboi, Kokwech the local council one chairperson however attributed the shortage to negative effect of the wetland degradation
