Farmers across Teso sub region have been encouraged to utilize the services agricultural extension workers in their sub counties.
The call was made by Joseph Okiria the Kumi district principal Agricultural officer.
Extension workers are experts who advise farmers to improve their agricultural practices by checking crop failures, livestock diseases, pests and vectors.
They are also supposed to provide agricultural statistics, regulatory services, agricultural planning and quality assurance for food security.
But farmers in Teso are not utilizing the services of extension workers.
According to Okiria most farmers rush into buying insecticides and chemicals for animals and crops without prior advise from extension workers.
Okiria notes that failure to utilize extension workers has led to persistence of pests and diseases which have exposed farmers to loses.
