A spate of cattle theft has forced authorities in Katakwi district to revive sub-county security committees.
Major Godfrey Katamba the Resident District Commissioner Katakwi who also doubles as the chairperson security committee of the district says they have decided to revive sub county security committees following the rampant theft of animals.
Theft of the animals that is perpetuated by the Karamojong rustlers is rampant in the sub counties of Palam ,Magoro and Ngariam.
Several people are lost their animals to the Karimojong cattle rustlers in the past months
According to Katamba reviving sub county security committees will improve the vigilance of communities and timely response to any occurrence of the vice.
Katamba says after reviving sub county security committees, the committee will gazette cattle Kraals that will be manned by the Uganda Peoples defense forces soldiers
